The Dress Alterations
I knew when I bought my dress that I would have to have it altered. Actually, I knew before I bought any dress that I would have to have it altered. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm short so it's a pretty foregone conclusion that I will have to have some length taken off the bottom of my dress. I chose not to take it to some seamstress that I don't trust and instead took it to Aunt Elsie. She's great and alterations and she and Aunt Belvy are really the only people that I would trust to alter a dress that carries as much importance as this. So I packed everything up and took it to her. Over the course of the past few months I've gone down every few weekends and put the dress back on so that they could make sure they had measurements right. It's still not done but that's because with the way my dress is made they are having to alter it a few layers at a time. I keep seeing all these other dresses that make me think "Oh, I could do that to the skirt of mine and it would look lovely!" and then I go down to get fitted again and put the dress on. That's usually when it hits me about why I picked this dress. I always decide that I don't want to change a thing when I have it on. I'm really fond of it just the way it is. We'll have it finished in plenty of time for the wedding so I can't complain any about how long it is taking. It's no walk in the park to alter wedding dresses so I'm glad the ladies are taking their time and doing it right. Gotta love Aunts that love you and are always there to help if they can.
